Agile Robots enters strategic partnership with Google DeepMind
Munich-based Agile Robots announced Tuesday a strategic research partnership with Google DeepMind. The deal involves Agile Robots implementing DeepMind's Gemini Robotics foundation models into its industrial robots, with data collected by the robots being used to improve the underlying AI models.
The partnership will focus on testing, fine-tuning, and deploying robots powered by Gemini models across industrial sectors including electronics manufacturing, automotive, data centers, and logistics.
"Agile Robots has already installed over 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide, proving intelligent automation at scale," said Zhaopeng Chen, co-founder and CEO. "The huge opportunity ahead lies in autonomous, intelligent production systems that can transform entire industries."
Agile Robots is the latest in a string of robotics companies to partner with Google DeepMind. Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamics announced a similar collaboration earlier this year to use DeepMind's AI models in developing its humanoid robot Atlas.
Founded in 2018, the company has raised more than $270 million in venture capital from investors including SoftBank Vision Fund and Xiaomi.
