Alexa Plus Lands in the UK — Amazon's First European AI Upgrade
Amazon has launched Alexa Plus in the United Kingdom, marking the AI-upgraded assistant's first European expansion.
Alexa Plus will be available for free during early access, then priced at £19.99 per month (approximately $26.50), with Amazon Prime subscribers getting it included.
Amazon promises the assistant will "feel genuinely British" — it understands expressions like "cuppa," "knackered," and "it's nippy," and may even drop phrases like "you're taking the mickey" or "Bob's your uncle" into conversation.
Why it matters
Alexa Plus represents Amazon's bid to reclaim the voice assistant crown after years of intense competition from Google Assistant and Apple Siri. With full AI capabilities and natural conversational understanding, Amazon is repositioning Alexa from a command interface to a true AI partner.
For enterprise leaders, this signals Amazon's intent to push AI assistants deeper into European markets — with potential business integrations likely to follow as the rollout expands across the continent.
