Anthropic adds Projects to Claude Cowork Desktop
Anthropic has updated Claude Cowork Desktop with a new Projects feature that keeps files, instructions, and task context organized within a single workspace. For paying users, this means Claude can continue work between sessions without losing the thread.
Cowork launched in January 2026 as a research preview aimed at knowledge workers, not just developers. It gave Claude access to approved folders so it could read, edit, and create files directly. Projects builds on this by adding structured context per workspace.
The update is now available to Pro, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. Users can import existing projects with one click, or start fresh with a local folder connected.
For companies evaluating AI-assisted workflows, this is a step toward more persistent AI collaboration. Claude can now act as a genuine colleague on a defined domain of work, not just answering individual questions. This represents a qualitative change in what AI tools can offer knowledge workers.
