Anthropic launches institute for AI policy and societal impact
Anthropic has launched The Anthropic Institute, a new internal function dedicated to understanding and communicating the societal impact of advanced AI systems.
The institute is being stood up in collaboration with Jack Clark and Marina Favaro, who has worked at Anthropic for over three years on policy and partnerships. The mission is to bridge the gap between technical development and public understanding, and to inform policy and governance discussions.
This is not just a PR exercise. The institute brings together research, policy, and economic analysis under one roof. It will examine how AI systems affect jobs, economies, and public systems, alongside risks such as misuse, governance challenges, and system behavior.
For CIOs and decision-makers, this is worth tracking. Anthropic is positioning itself as the bridge between frontier AI labs and the rest of the world. Their external engagements, including dialogue with workers and industries experiencing disruption, could provide valuable insights for enterprises planning AI strategy.
The institute is actively hiring.
