Anthropic adds Microsoft Azure as cloud infrastructure partner
Anthropic has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft Azure, which now becomes the company's third major cloud infrastructure partner. The collaboration was confirmed on March 26, 2026, meaning all Anthropic products can now run on Azure infrastructure.
Previously, Anthropic had only Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services as primary cloud providers. The addition of Azure completes the trio of the world's three largest cloud platforms, giving Anthropic significantly greater flexibility and global reach.
For enterprise customers, this means Claude models are now available directly through Azure AI Studio and Azure OpenAI-compatible interfaces, lowering the threshold for organizations already heavily invested in the Microsoft ecosystem.
The partnership comes right after Microsoft's launch of Wave 3 of Microsoft 365 Copilot earlier in March, where Anthropic's Claude models were integrated as an optional AI engine for complex agentic tasks.
For organizations running workloads on Azure, this opens up direct access to Claude without having to set up separate API integrations. CIOs evaluating AI strategy should note that the choice between OpenAI and Anthropic is now available within the same Azure platform.
