Claude Opens Microsoft 365 Integration to All Users — Including Free Tier
Starting April 4, 2026, all Claude users can connect to Microsoft 365. Free users included.
Anthropic rolled out an update enabling Claude to read Outlook emails, OneDrive and SharePoint documents, Teams messages, and calendar data. The connection is read-only. Claude can search and analyze, but cannot send emails, delete files, or modify anything.
Until now, this feature was limited to Teams and Enterprise subscribers — an expensive threshold. With this change, anyone using Claude at any tier can use their Office environment as context.
The practical value is immediate: ask Claude what was decided in a Teams channel last week, summarize a long email thread, or find a document without manually uploading it.
Competition with Microsoft's own Copilot intensifies. Claude now offers access to the same data foundation at a fraction of the price.
For CIOs and IT leaders weighing which AI assistant to back, this is a concrete signal that Anthropic is positioning Claude as a full office tool, not just a chatbot.
