Cloudflare opens Agent Cloud to OpenAI's GPT-5.4 and Codex
Cloudflare made one of the more concrete enterprise moves in the agent wave on April 13. The company is expanding Agent Cloud and bringing OpenAI models such as GPT-5.4 and Codex directly into the platform.
The important part is not just model access. Cloudflare is trying to turn agent operations into infrastructure, with Dynamic Workers for isolated execution of AI-generated code, Git-compatible Artifacts storage, generally available Sandboxes, and the Think framework for long-running multi-step tasks.
For engineering teams, that means agentic workflows can move from demos and local prototypes into production on global edge infrastructure. OpenAI also emphasizes that Codex harness and GPT-5.4 can now be used for real enterprise workloads inside the Cloudflare environment.
For CIOs, the signal is clear: the competition is shifting from standalone models to who can deliver secure execution, persistence, version control, and large-scale delivery for agents.
