Google DeepMind and Agile Robots: Gemini Models to Power 20,000 Industrial Robots
Google DeepMind and German robotics company Agile Robots have announced a partnership integrating Gemini Robotics foundation models directly into industrial robot hardware. Agile Robots already has over 20,000 deployed robotic systems globally.
The partnership will initially focus on high-value industrial use cases, such as manufacturing tasks. The plan is for Agile Robots to leverage Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics models to improve performance through robot deployment, data collection, model training and iteration.
For Google, this is a central part of its strategy: the company sees robotics as one of the large use cases for AI, competing directly against Amazon and Tesla. The partnership gives Google valuable real-world deployment data — critical for training next-generation robot models.
Carolina Parada, Senior Director and Head of Robotics at Google DeepMind, said Agile Robots will help Google develop "more advanced AI models for the next generation of robots."
Google is rapidly building out its robotics portfolio. The company has recently made several partnerships in the humanoid robotics space and views physical AI as one of the next major frontiers after pure software AI.
