Google Expands Gemini Personal Intelligence to All US Users
Google has expanded access to its Personal Intelligence feature in Gemini to all users in the United States. The feature is now available through AI Mode in Google Search, Gemini in Chrome, and the Gemini app.
What Is Personal Intelligence?
Personal Intelligence enables Gemini to pull context from a user's Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, and other Google services to deliver more relevant, personalized answers. Instead of treating each query in isolation, the AI can draw connections across a user's digital life.
Capabilities include:
- Summarizing unread emails and prioritizing the most important ones
- Suggesting email replies based on the user's communication style
- Providing calendar-based reminders and context
- Helping find documents in Drive using natural language
Expansion From Limited Beta
The feature was previously available only to Google One AI Premium subscribers and select beta users. The expansion to all US users marks a significant shift toward Gemini becoming a truly personal AI assistant integrated into daily life.
Privacy and Control
Google emphasizes that users control which data sources Gemini can access. Personalization can be toggled on or off per source, and all processing occurs within Google's existing privacy framework.
This is a clear signal that AI companies are now moving from general-purpose models to deeply personalized assistants that know your context — delivering immense value while raising important questions about data access and control.
