Google Opens Gemini Personal Intelligence to All US Users
Google announced on Tuesday that all users in the US now have access to its Personal Intelligence feature in Gemini — not just paid subscribers.
What is Personal Intelligence?
Personal Intelligence lets you connect Google apps like Gmail, YouTube, Google Photos, and Search to Gemini, enabling the AI assistant to provide more personalized responses and suggestions without requiring you to manually add context.
With the feature enabled, Gemini can for example:
- Recommend products based on your recent purchases
- Provide technical troubleshooting advice based on device info it already has
- Tailor search results and responses to your interests and history
From Paid to Free
Previously, Personal Intelligence was limited to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. Now the feature is available to all free users in the US through:
- AI Mode in Google Search
- Gemini in Chrome
- The Gemini app
Access is currently limited to personal Google accounts — not business, enterprise, or education accounts.
Privacy and Control
The feature is opt-in, and Google emphasizes that users can disconnect apps at any time. The company clarifies that Gemini and AI Mode do not train directly on your Gmail inbox or Google Photos library.
CIO Perspective
For enterprise organizations following Google Workspace developments: this is the signal that personalized AI will soon roll out to enterprise segments. Preparing data hygiene policies and AI governance frameworks now will pay dividends when the rollout reaches business accounts.
