GPT-4o Retired from ChatGPT Today
As of today, April 3, 2026, GPT-4o has been fully retired from all ChatGPT plans. This includes Business, Enterprise, and Edu tiers, which were the last to retain access via Custom GPTs.
GPT-4o was first removed from the general ChatGPT interface on February 13, 2026. Today marks the complete end of its presence on the platform. The model remains available through the OpenAI API, with no current plans for retirement there.
GPT-4o launched in May 2024 and represented a shift toward faster, more efficient multimodal AI. It served as the default model in ChatGPT for much of its lifespan and was widely used in enterprise integrations. Its removal is a natural consequence of the GPT-5.x family taking over as the standard.
For organizations that built their GPTs or workflows on GPT-4o within the ChatGPT platform, this is a timely reminder of the short lifecycle of AI models and the importance of building integrations against stable APIs.
