IBM and Arm Team Up to Build the Future of Enterprise AI Hardware
IBM and Arm announced a strategic collaboration on April 2, 2026, to develop new dual-architecture hardware aimed at helping enterprises run AI and data-intensive workloads with greater flexibility, reliability, and security.
The partnership combines IBM's leadership in system design, from silicon to software and security, with Arm's expertise in power-efficient architecture and a broad software ecosystem. The collaboration is designed to produce scalable computing platforms prepared for future enterprise workloads.
IBM has long invested in hardware platforms such as the Telum II processor and Spyre Accelerator, designed to bring AI from experimentation into everyday enterprise use. Arm's widely distributed software ecosystem enables AI workloads to run across diverse environments.
Mohamed Awad, EVP at Arm, emphasized that the collaboration will extend the Arm ecosystem into mission-critical enterprise environments, giving organizations greater flexibility in deploying and scaling AI. Tina Tarquinio of IBM described it as a natural extension of IBM's hardware and systems innovation legacy.
For enterprises building AI infrastructure on top of existing legacy systems, this signals a significant expansion of enterprise AI hardware choices in the near future.
