The Terminator Fear Is the Wrong Focus

People are afraid of the wrong things. They fear Skynet — a superintelligence that decides to wipe out humanity. That's great film storytelling, but poor prediction.

You know what's actually scary? Not that AI becomes too smart. But that AI becomes just smart enough to be useful — without being smart enough to understand the consequences of what it does.
