Microsoft doubles the price: M365 E7 at $99/month with Copilot AI included

Microsoft has announced that its new top-tier enterprise subscription Microsoft 365 E7 will be priced at $99 per user per month starting May 1, 2026. That's a 65% increase from the current top tier, with Copilot AI fully integrated.

What's new in E7?

The new subscription includes:

• Copilot Cowork — agent-based AI built on Anthropic's Claude, capable of performing multi-step tasks across Microsoft 365 apps
• Full AI agent management
• All existing E5 features carried forward

Numbers that tell the story

Microsoft currently has 15 million paying Copilot users — against 450 million Microsoft 365 commercial customers total. The upsell potential is enormous, and the price hike finances massive investments: the company spent $72 billion on data center infrastructure over the past two quarters.

Competition is mounting pressure

ChatGPT has over 50 million paying subscribers. OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic are battling for the enterprise market. Microsoft is responding by making AI an inseparable part of the office suite — and pricing accordingly.

For enterprise customers

Organizations with Microsoft Enterprise Agreements should start planning for the May transition now. E7 is not mandatory — E3 and E5 continue — but most large enterprises will feel pressure from Microsoft to upgrade.
