OpenAI makes Codex easier to pilot in teams

OpenAI announced on April 1 that Codex can now be purchased as dedicated pay-as-you-go seats for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise. That lets teams start small pilots without a fixed seat fee and pay only for actual token usage.

The company is also removing rate limits for these Codex-only seats. For CIOs and technology leaders, that lowers the barrier to testing AI coding agents in narrow workflows before committing to a broader rollout. OpenAI is also cutting the annual price of ChatGPT Business from $25 to $20 per seat.
