OpenAI is updating GPT-5.2 today with an extended knowledge cutoff and new MCP connectors for enterprise customers, lowering the barrier for businesses that want to deploy AI against their own internal systems.

What's new?

GPT-5.2 now includes knowledge up to August 2025, an extension from its previous cutoff. This means shorter prompts, less manual context-setting, and more relevant responses to questions about technology, policy, and market developments from the past six months.

The model covers three tiers: Instant (fast responses for lightweight tasks), Thinking (deeper planning and complex workflows), and Pro (higher reliability for mission-critical use). All three tiers are updated with the new cutoff.

Enterprise MCP connectors

The most strategically significant news is the rollout of new MCP (Model Context Protocol) connectors for ChatGPT Business. These connectors allow organizations to link the assistant directly to internal systems, such as data warehouses, analytics tools, and ticketing platforms, while respecting enterprise access controls.

In practice, this means employees can query their own data without manually pasting context into prompts. For CIOs evaluating AI integration into existing infrastructure, this substantially lowers the barrier to extracting value from ChatGPT Business.

What it means for enterprise IT teams

For businesses with ERP systems, order data, and warehouse management, MCP connectors open the door to querying operational systems using natural language. Combined with existing Azure integrations, this could become a foundational component of the enterprise AI stack in 2026.

Connectors roll out gradually, following enterprise security policies, which limits the risk of sensitive data exposure.
