Perplexity Comet AI Browser Now Available on iPhone
Perplexity has launched Comet — its AI-powered browser — for iPhone. After a one-week delay from its original March 11 launch date, the app is now available in the App Store.
What is Comet?
Comet is an AI-powered browser that acts as a personal assistant and "thinking partner." First launched for Mac in summer 2025, it has since expanded to Windows and Android. The iPhone version completes mobile platform coverage for users.
Key features:
- Unified AI search — combines browsing with Perplexity-powered search and chat
- Instant context — understands what you're working on and provides relevant help
- Automation — can summarize, shop, schedule, and research directly in the browser
- Personal learning — adapts to your habits and keeps track of tabs and ideas
Competition for AI Browsers
Comet now competes directly with Arc, Brave, and Apple's built-in Safari AI assistant. Perplexity positions Comet as an agentic browser — not just a tool that displays web pages, but one that actually executes tasks on behalf of the user.
No iPad version is ready yet. Comet for Mac and the browser's backend run on Perplexity's infrastructure.
For CIOs, this signals that AI agents are moving from desktop to mobile, and that the browser itself is becoming an agent layer — not just a rendering technology.
