A new Quinnipiac University poll released March 30 shows 55% of Americans now believe AI will do more harm than good in their daily lives, up 11 percentage points from April 2025.

70% say AI advances will lead to fewer jobs overall, a 14-point increase year-over-year. 30% of employed Americans worry AI may make their own jobs obsolete.

Despite the skepticism, 51% use AI for research, writing, and data analysis. But only 21% trust AI-generated information most of the time.

76% say businesses are not transparent enough about AI use, and 74% feel the government is not doing enough to regulate the technology. 65% oppose building AI data centers near their communities.

The survey covered 1,397 U.S. adults from March 19-23, 2026.
